Trellis ("the app", "we", "us") is built to be private by default. This policy explains what data the app handles.
Trellis does not collect your personal data. There is no advertising, no tracking, and no analytics of your behavior. The only data that ever leaves your device is the anonymous diagnostic data described below — and your own iCloud backup, which only you can access.
If the app crashes or runs into an error, an anonymous diagnostic report is sent to us so we can find and fix the problem. You can also send a bug report yourself at any time from Settings → Report a bug.
A diagnostic report contains technical information only: the error or crash details, your device model and iOS version, the app version, a trail of recent in-app events (for example “check-in completed” or “backup failed”), and a technical snapshot of the app’s state. It never includes your habit names or your habit categories, and there is no account or profile attached — reports carry only a random installation identifier that is not linked to your identity.
Bug reports include an optional email field. If you provide your email, it is used solely to reply to your report — never for marketing.
Diagnostic reports are processed on our behalf by Sentry, a crash-reporting service, and are automatically deleted after a limited retention period.
Your habits, progress, reminders, and settings are stored locally on your device. If you turn on iCloud Backup, an encrypted copy is stored in your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database), which only you can access — we cannot see it.
If you enable reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data leaves your device.
Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Trellis never receives or stores your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs that data.
We do not sell or rent your data to anyone. Anonymous diagnostic reports are handled by Sentry solely as our service provider, and no data is ever used for advertising or tracking.
You can export all of your data as a JSON file, or permanently delete all data, at any time from within the app (Settings → Privacy & data). Deleting all data also removes the local diagnostic log and state snapshot from your device.
Trellis is intended for users aged 18 and older.
